Malin-Handwoven wool throw (with handspun yarn)

This is a particularly special handwoven throw, with a little bit of Donegal woven into its story.

Much of the yarn was handspun while overlooking the Irish Sea in Donegal — sometimes with the sound of seals in the background. It is made from a beautiful mix of Teeswater, Romney, Shetland and Bluefaced Leicester wool, bringing together the different character and softness of each fleece.

As I spun the yarn, I blended in touches of sari silk and Teeswater wool locks, adding subtle colour, texture and depth. These little variations run throughout the weaving, giving the finished throw its own unique character.

The result is a wonderfully soft and tactile throw, with a lovely cosy weight to it — warm and substantial without feeling too heavy. The handspun yarn and wool locks create a naturally textured surface that celebrates the individual qualities of the fibres.

Handspun and handwoven, this is a completely one-of-a-kind piece, shaped as much by the materials as by the place in which it began.
